Have you ever wondered where all your free space went on your Mac? It is time-consuming to hunt down those big files taking up all your space manually. To help in this process I have particular found these two utilities handy when it comes to recover lost space on my drive. WhatSize a shareware app and the free Omnidisksweeper.

It is also possible to use the Finder to search for big files. Just create a New Smart Folder in the menu in Finder with these settings:

Then it is easy to find all the big files taking up space on your drive.
