With the arrival of Leopard and Time Machine, the need for an alternative backup solutions might not seem very urgent anymore. But many forget that to get full protection, you also need to get an offsite backup solution. One good solution for this is CrashPlan. The application is cross platform and works on both Mac, PC, Linux and Solaris. It is unlimited and free to use for personal use. Two versions are available, one for Home and Home Office and one for Business and Enterprise use. One unique feature of CrashPlan is the possibility to use a friend or family member computer for onsite backup. The pricing is very reasonable, and an excellent demonstration is on their web page.
