I am excited to get my hands on Mac OS X Snow Leopard next week. Meanwhile it is time to prepare for the upgrade. I am planning to take a complete copy of my Mac to an external drive. I am using a free utility Carbon Copy Cloner for this purpose. Then I am going to see if any updates are for my software and utilities. You can read about updating your applications in my post: How to keep your applications updated. It might also be a good idea to run maintenance on your Mac as well. I can recommend Cocktail for this purpose, it will even scan your drives for known malware. I think this upgrade will go smoothly with only few problems. You can also buy e-books from Take Control Ebooks. They have two new books about Snow Leopard.

Here is a long list of applications and their status on Snow Leopard. Apple has their own list as well about compatibility problems.
