From time to time you probably end up with the dreaded winmail.dat file in your inbox on your mac. It is usually caused by rich text files sent from Outlook or Exchange to users marked to receive “Rich Text Files” in the senders address book, even if the receiver is not an Outlook user.

The solution is to download this free application called TNEF’s Enough, and use it to open the winmail.dat file with. Or the sender can unmark you as a “Rich Text File” receiver.
